"Expressions of the everyday in new light; unvarnished emotion and playful, good times!"
Erika Werry's third full length release combines the raw acoustic quality of her sophomore disc with the roots-rock vibe of her debut, creating an album that is playful and not overly earnest, though with moments of emotional tension brought about as much by the guitar playing, which is a voice in itself, as by the lyric and Erika's strong delivery.
Many months in the making, some of the studio sessions pre-dated 2006's Time on our Hands which was released to media acclaim (the debut was awarded a four-star NNNN rating in Toronto's NOW magazine, so expectations soar for this third self-titled effort).
Besides short contributions by Darin Yorston on mandolin and Beau Dixon on organ, the album remains true to the live band setting, featuring a bass-drums-guitar lineup, played by Mike Hopkins, Marshall Bureau and Ryan Fairhead respectively. Erika Werry strums and picks the acoustic Gibson and sings and writes all the songs. And she has much to say on human relationships and superstitions.
